Here is what you do:
You provide the place, refreshments, and guests. You and your friends bring all those things from the closet that you have questions about - clothing, accessories, whatever. If in doubt, bring it - more is better. You could come away with a whole "new" wardrobe! At worst, we may not get to everything as parties last 1 1/2 - 2 hours. (As host, you will receive the Wear It Well collection of wardrobe and shopping tips.)
Here is what I do:
I will assess each item (time permitting) and make suggestions on how to wear it or what to do with it. That too-short wrap skirt of double-faced wool could become a little cape. If you stitched up the neck of your angora poncho, it would make a fun wrap for chilly evenings. The brocade bridesmaid dress has enough skirt for a tablecloth (and quite frankly would look better on a table). The moth-eaten cashmere coat - sorry, that has to go, unless you are artsy-craftsy, then you can make accessories out of it.
You and your guests will come away with new ideas about how to wear what you already have, with no pressure to buy more clothes you might never wear.
Please contact me to schedule a Shop In Your Closet party! You can also give a gift certificate for a party or a workshop on the topic of your choice.
