What will you do for me?
That depends on the client. Usually, I start by determining what your life is like - what you do, how you spend your time, what kinds of clothes you need - and assess your existing wardrobe. I will look at what you have and advise you on what you should get rid of, what you should keep, how to wear and combine the items you have, what you need to buy, and help organize your closet so that you can find what's in it and put yourself together quickly and easily. Then we shop for the right things for you.
I can also help you by packing for travel, putting together special looks for big events, preparing for public appearances, and dressing for interviews. I can advise on hair, skincare and makeup, and make appointments with these professionals.
You will be more organized about getting dressed, more confident about your appearance, and know that your clothing is appropriate and flattering.
What about my company?
Every business needs to present a professional image, and that is more complicated than the days when everyone wore and suit and tie, and that was that. Many businesses now have some form of "business casual," and even for those that don't, rapidly changing fashions and cultural influences can leave everyone confused about appearance issues.
Because I have a background in management as well as fashion, I can sort out these issues and present dress guidelines that everyone can live with.
We have "business casual" at work but it's just messy. Can you help?
Back in the day, it was easy to tell what someone did by the way they dressed. Office workers wore suits; construction workers wore jeans and steel-toed boots. Then came "casual Friday," then casual all the time, and now office workers wear jeans and steel-toed boots, and any number of other looks that may be better off elsewhere. If your office park sometimes looks more like a theme park, I can help you determine appropriate guidelines, develop a dress code, and present seminars and workshops on dressing for work.
I dread travel. I need to look good but hate checking bags. Is there a better way?
Business travelers are not called road warriors for nothing, and with travel delays, airline restrictions, weather problems, even a trip to a college reunion can be an ordeal. You want your trip to be about business, or fun, or getting something accomplished, not about hopelessly wrinkled clothes and lost luggage. Packing may not be a science, but good planning and tips for what to take (and what to leave at home) can make life easier on the road.
I can help you plan, edit, and pack, and give you lots of tips on dressing for your destination, as well as minimizing the amount of clothing and personal grooming products that you take along.
How do you charge?
I charge an hourly fee for time spent with you or for you. Unlike salespeople, I do not work on commission and do not get paid by any store. My work for you is all about you; I am not influenced by how much you buy or the price of the merchandise. I also do prepared workshops for a standard fee, and gift certificates are available.
