Susan Boyd, Owner and Founder

Susan grew up with a love of fashion, and majored in art for a time, intending to be a fashion illustrator. Eventually she followed other paths and spent most of her career in the intelligence community. Susan never lost interest in fashion and costume, however, and continued to study these fields independently, doing wardrobe and image consulting part-time. Her previous professional experience gives her a unique insight into the cultural and social meanings of image and appearance, particularly in the workplace.

In addition to working with individuals, Susan consults with business clients including financial services and law firms, and has lectured at trade shows, schools, conferences, and historical societies. She has appeared on radio, and her advice has been published in newspapers, magazines and corporate newsletters. She also dresses job-seeking clients and conducts workshops at Suited for Change. Susan also occasionally designs costumes for theatre.

Susan is on the Board of Directors for Fashion Group International (of Greater Washington DC), and is a member of Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce, Costume Society of America, and several museums that study and exhibit fashion, costume, and the decorative arts. She has continued her fashion education in New York at Fashion Institute of Technology and New York University, and in Paris with Cultural Study Abroad. She lives in the Washington, DC area.
